Artist: Ray “Duck” Garcia (Red Earth Honored One 2025)
This handmade earrings and ring set highlights Ray “Duck” Garcia’s mastery of cuttlefish casting, a traditional technique that leaves distinctive rippled textures in the silver. The earrings feature three linked components that move fluidly together: a round textured silver disc, an oval Mediterranean coral cabochon, and a teardrop-shaped sterling form set with Sleeping Beauty turquoise. The hooks are fully handmade, and each segment is crafted with individual attention, giving the earrings a rhythmic, sculptural quality. They measure about 3 3/4 inches in total length.
The matching ring carries the same textured silverwork. The wide band measures about 1/2 inch at its thickest point and features two round Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones set side by side. The sculpted surface and asymmetrical cutout give the ring a contemporary character while keeping clear ties to traditional Pueblo metalwork.
Together, the earrings and ring form a cohesive set, pairing bright turquoise with warm coral and presenting Garcia’s thoughtful approach to texture, proportion, and handmade detail.
