This stoneware totem was created by Choctaw artist Carolyn Bernard Young.
This flat stoneware "collage" as Young calls it, is her representation of a totem. This stunning totem stick with scratch work features an image of a red cardinal, a turtle (an image often seen in Indigenous storytelling), and various geometric symbols and designs.
