Nearly 500 runners are expected to participate in the 2010 Red Earth Festival Run scheduled June 19, at Regatta Park and River Trails along the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City. The race, open to people of all ages, begins at 8 am and includes a sanctioned 5K Run and 2K Fun Walk. Registration opens at 7 am that morning and is $25 for adults and $20 for students.
Race registration includes a t-shirt and complimentary admission ticket to the 24th annual Red Earth Festival, scheduled at the Cox Convention Center June 18-20 in downtown Oklahoma City. All participants receive a commemorative medal.
The Red Earth Run is sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association and offers electronic chip timing for runners. Last year more than 300 runners participated in the 5K Run and 2K Fun Walk.
The race starts at the Chesapeake Boathouse, 725 South Lincoln Blvd., just south of I-40 and Bass Pro Shop. The leg will be run along the northern shores of the Oklahoma River.
Pre-registration is available for $20 and $15 for adults and students, respectively. Registration may be obtained online at Red Earth’s official website, www.redearth.org, under Run Registration.
The Red Earth Festival Run is presented by Tinker Federal Credit Union, which joins a variety of other sponsors including Chesapeake Energy, Devon Energy, Chickasaw Nation, Choctaw Nation, Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau, Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department, and Great Plains Coca Cola Bottling. All proceeds benefit Red Earth, Inc.
