Swimming Lesson Print

Bright blue water, green lily pads, and pond wildlife bring movement to Swimming Lesson by Cherokee artist Alix Robinson.

Inspired by Cherokee storytelling traditions, Robinson created an original animal story about a trumpeter swan, a boatman beetle, and a frog sharing a pond. The upper and lower halves offer aquatic and land-dwelling perspectives, exploring the human distinction between being “in” and “out” of one shared habitat.
