Kate Wiley (Chickasaw) creates fluid acrylic paintings that carry the rhythm, balance, and expressive quality she developed over nearly 30 years as a dancer. Long before she ever picked up a paintbrush, movement shaped the way she understood emotion and storytelling. When she began painting in 2019, she discovered that the same sense of motion that guided her through choreography showed up naturally in the way the paint moved across the surface.

Viewers often describe her work as having graceful movement, something that reflects the years she spent learning how the body communicates feeling through motion. Her paintings capture that same flow, translating the language of dance into color, shape, and shifting pathways of paint.
