"Man Who Shot the Congregation" by Chebon Dacon

This 14” W x 17” H original charcoal drawing, titled "Man Who Shot the Congregation", is a compelling work by acclaimed Muscogee (Creek) artist Chebon Dacon. The piece showcases Dacon's mastery in capturing intricate details and profound expressions through the medium of charcoal, offering a poignant narrative that invites deep reflection.

Chebon Dacon, born in 1946 in Oklahoma City, is a self-taught artist of Muscogee (Creek) descent. His artistic journey is notable for its resilience; after knee injuries ended his aspirations for a professional football career at the University of Oklahoma, Dacon turned to art, where he found significant acclaim. His works, characterized by detailed pencil drawings and skillfully executed watercolors, oils, and acrylics, have been exhibited internationally and are highly collected in the United States. In recognition of his contributions to art and culture, Dacon was inducted into the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Hall of Fame in 2015.

"Man Who Shot the Congregation" exemplifies Dacon's ability to intertwine cultural narratives with artistic expression, making it a significant addition for collectors and enthusiasts of Native American art.
