White roses with golden centers bloom against layered greens in this floral print by Cherokee artist Alix Robinson.
Robinson connects the Cherokee rose with hope and resilience, sharing the legend that flowers grew from the tears of mothers grieving children lost along the Trail of Tears. The painting honors the artist’s ancestor, who survived the journey at eight years old, and remembers those who perished.
