TreeFest: Beadwork & Cultural Discovery

Explore Native cultures, discover the stories behind TreeFest, and create your own beaded artwork!

Join Red Earth for a special 90-minute holiday experience combining cultural discovery with hands-on creativity.

Participants will begin by exploring our annual TreeFest exhibition, where trees decorated by participating Tribal Nations celebrate their unique cultures, histories, and traditions. Through an age-appropriate scavenger hunt or interactive learning activity, participants will discover more about the Tribes represented in the exhibition.

Following the TreeFest exploration, participants will create their own beaded tapestry using colorful pony beads. This beginner-friendly activity introduces foundational beadwork skills, including following patterns, arranging colors, and working with beads to create a design.

These skills provide a great introduction to beadwork and can be built upon in future Red Earth classes, including our beaded earring workshops.

Each participant will create a beaded piece to take home.

December 8, 9, 15 & 16, 2026

Two sessions offered each day:

• Morning Session: 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

• Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Cost: $30 per participant creating a beaded project
Ages: 7 and older
Class Size: Maximum 6 participants per session
Duration: 90 minutes
Location: Red Earth, BancFirst Tower, Downtown Oklahoma City

Good to Know

• All beadwork supplies are included in the registration fee.

• No previous beadwork experience is necessary.

• The $30 registration fee applies only to individuals making their own beaded artwork.

• Parents, guardians, and younger siblings who are accompanying a registered participant but not creating their own project do not need to purchase a ticket.

• Children must be at least 7 years old to participate in the beadwork activity.

• Space is limited to six registered makers per session to allow for individualized instruction.
