Craft Your Story: Dive into the intricate world of woven paper
Join us for a hybrid course that begins with an enlightening artist talk by Summer Zah, delving into her book and installation work from her thesis exhibition. Zah will share insights on her choice of materials, the conceptual thought process, and the formation of her work.
Following the talk, participants will be immersed in a hands-on workshop where they will learn how to weave paper using a predetermined pattern. Instructions will be provided on setting up a “loom” with shredded paper, allowing attendees to recreate the unique textiles featured in Zah’s art.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have the skills to start both a flat weaving project and an accordion book. Depending on the time and individual pace, attendees will at least leave with a beautifully crafted accordion book, with the potential to embark on more intricate projects inspired by Zah's techniques.
