    Learn, Explore & Create

TreeFest gives students an opportunity to experience Native art and cultures beyond the classroom through an exhibition created with Tribal Nations, Native organizations and community partners.

Students will explore trees decorated with handmade ornaments and artwork while using educational signage throughout the exhibition to learn more about the communities represented.

The experience also gives students a chance to become artists themselves by creating a handmade ornament to take with them.

We recommend planning approximately an hour and a half for students to complete both activities and enjoy the TreeFest experience.

    What Students Will Experience

    One Visit. Two Experiences.

Depending on the size of your class, students will be divided into two groups and rotate through the TreeFest exhibition and classroom activity.

    EXPERIENCE 01

    Explore TreeFest

Students begin in the Red Earth Art Center, where they explore TreeFest, view handmade ornaments and discover the different trees while completing a scavenger hunt. Educational signage helps students learn more about the Native Nations and communities represented throughout the exhibition.

    EXPERIENCE 02

    Create an Ornament

Students visit our upstairs classroom for a hands-on activity where each participant creates their own handmade beaded ornament. Students can take their finished ornament home after the field trip.

Once each group finishes its first activity, the groups switch so every student has the opportunity to both explore and create.

    Are Free.

Help Us Keep Them That Way.

Red Earth offers TreeFest field trips to schools free of charge so that cost does not have to stand between students and this experience.

If your school is able to make a donation, your support is always appreciated. Donations help Red Earth continue offering educational experiences like TreeFest year after year and support our plans to replace and expand our collection of TreeFest trees in the coming years.

A donation is appreciated, but it is not required to schedule or participate in a field trip.
