Artist Victoria McKinney, Echota Cherokee
A Blood Moon is a partial lunar eclipse during a full moon. Low in the horizon it appears to be red as it passes through the earth's shadow.
Some legends say it signals foreboding or change. Phases of the moon were also used to determine when to plant and harvest crops.
This Blood Moon features designs found on artifacts from various Mounds sites such as the Spiro Mounds in Oklahoma and the Moundville Mounds in Alabama. The Blood Moon is always a beautiful sight in the night sky.
This print is matted and signed by the artist.
8x10 without mat. Measures 14" x 11" including mat.
