
New Tree Lined Route Set For Annual Red Earth Festival Parade
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – What has been referred to as America’s most unique parade is changing directions. The Red Earth Festival Parade, which opens the annual Native American Cultural Festival on June 5th, has changed its route to circle downtown Oklahoma City’s Myriad Botanical Gardens before returning to the Cox Convention Center. The streets of downtown Oklahoma City will be alive with Native American Spirit as the Red Earth Festival celebrates its 23rd year of being Oklahoma’s premiere cultural experience.
The Red Earth Festival parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Cox Convention Center at EK Gaylord Blvd and Sheridan Avenue. The procession travels west running along tree lined Sheridan avenue before turning south on Hudson Avenue for one block. The parade then travels west on Reno as it returns to the Cox Convention Center. The parade is expected to last approximately one hour signaling the opening of the Red Earth Art Market followed by the Grand Entry of Dancers scheduled for noon inside the Cox Convention Center Arena.
Last year the Red Earth Parade featured had more than 100 colorful entries while nearly 10,000 spectators lined the streets of downtown Oklahoma City to experience the colorful event. The parade is free to the public and free for participants.
Participants may include but are not limited to Tribal programs, officials & princesses, color guards, dancers, music groups, school groups, drum groups and community organizations. Tickets to attend the Red Earth Festival are $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and youth and free for children under five. Three day passes and group rates are available.
