Festival plans June 6 Red Earth Run along Oklahoma River

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Nearly 500 runners are expected to participate in the 2009 Red Earth Festival Run at Riverfest scheduled June 6, at Regatta Park and River Trails along the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City. The race, open to people of all ages, begins at 8 am and includes a sanctioned 5K Run and 2K Fun Walk. Registration opens at 7 am that morning and is $25 for adults and $20 for students.

New Tree Lined Route Set For Annual Red Earth Festival Parade

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK –   What has been referred to as America’s most unique parade is changing directions. The Red Earth Festival Parade, which opens the annual Native American Cultural Festival on June 5th, has changed its route to circle downtown Oklahoma City’s Myriad Botanical Gardens before returning to the Cox Convention Center. Community leaders Christy Alcox and Nathan Hart have been named co-chairmen of the 22nd annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival scheduled June 6-8, 2008 at the Cox Business Services Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The 2007 Red Earth Festival, recognized as the largest event of its type in the nation, drew nearly 26,000 attendees to downtown Oklahoma City including 300 artists and exhibitors and 668 dancers from throughout North America. Utilizing the formula provided by the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Commission, the Economic Impact of the Visitor Industry by the 2007 Red Earth Festival in Oklahoma City equaled $7,464,305.
