Welcome to the Home of Red Earth

For nearly 30 years Red Earth, Inc has been recognized as the primary multi-cultural resource in Oklahoma for advancing the understanding and continuation of Native American traditional and contemporary culture and arts.

The Red Earth Museum hosts a diverse and changing schedule of traveling exhibitions and is custodian of a permanent collection of more than 1,400 items of fine art, pottery, basketry, textiles and beadwork – including the Deupree Cradleboard Collection, one of the finest individual collections of its kind in North America. The Red Earth Museum, located at Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, has benefited more than 130,000 annually.

The juried art competition and dance competition at the annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival has established Oklahoma City as a Native American art and cultural center, rivaling other southwestern cities as a showcase of Indian art. The varied activities and events scheduled during the Festival provide a mix of entertaining and educational presentations including food booths, hands-on children’s activities, storytelling, and musical performances.

Red Earth, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that promotes and presents the rich traditions of American Indian arts and cultures through educational programs, the annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival and the Red Earth Museum.

2008 Red Earth Festival proves to be an exciting weekend

More than 21,000 people from throughout the US experienced a celebration of Native American culture during the 22nd annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival.

Nearly 200 Native American artists juried into the Red Earth Fine art market to display their talents in painting, sculpting, beadwork, jewelry, basketry and hand crafted cultural items.  Pawnee/Sioux ceramic sculptor Austin Real Rider from Pawnee, OK was named recipient of the 2008 Red Earth Honored One award, presented annually to a Native American master visual artist whose support of Native American art has been substantial throughout his or her life.  Real Rider was recognized during the Fine Art Preview and Awards Ceremony.

Eight of the most talented Native American drum groups in North America, Dakota Hotain, Thunder Hill, Zotigh, Cozad, Sizzortail, High Noon, Standing Horse and Mesquakie Nation gave over 600 dancers the chance recall their ancestral traditions through dance. READ MORE
